Musical Monday: Don’t Wake Me Up.

Here’s another good one, despite the fact that I screwed up the bridge in this recording. I love the chorus: the last line refers to waking up and realizing the whole thing about her was a dream. And then the final chorus turns it around, indicating that she might be dreaming about me.

written: 1996
recorded: 1996
instrument: piano
recording medium: cassette tape
album: Plummet
lyrics:
As I picture your face
I feel infinite pleasure
Joy without measure
Your love, second to none
Can such a love be real?

CHORUS:
Is this what it seems?
Could you be in love with me?
Or is it only just a dream?
Some night, lying in bed
Will I wake up suddenly
Remembering the words you said?

Looking backwards in time
I see you and another
Holding each other
I could never have dreamed
The moment would soon be mine

When I think about it now
It feels like a dream
Too good to be real
Can it be what it seems?
Or is it a dream?
A gift from above?
If it is, don’t wake me up
Don’t wake me up

CHORUS

Now I picture your face
You are one in a million
The prospects are thrillin’
Come now, girl of my dreams
And hold me in your arms

CHORUS

Is this what it seems?
Could I be in love with you
Or is it only just a dream?
Some night, lying in bed
Will you wake up suddenly
Remembering the words I said?
